We are excited to announce the launch of our second design, Bloxs.
Bloxs is a geometric pattern featuring a herringbone arrangement of rectangular blocks interlocking together. The pattern runs vertically across the width of the wrap and where blocks are omitted it creates unique sections of colour along the length of the wrap. The hems are sewn so that there is no wrong side to the wrap and it can be worn either way depending on your preference.
“How many gentle flowers grow
In an English country garden?
I’ll tell you now of some I know
And those I’ll miss I hope you’ll pardon
Daffodils, heart’s ease and flox
Meadowsweet and lily stalks
Gentain, lupine and tall hollihocks
Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, forget-me-nots
In an English country garden.”
(Lyrics from an Old English Folk Song)
This collection features colourways named after the many beautiful flowers that can be found in English Country Gardens. I have many happy memories of spending our days playing amongst the flowers in our grandfathers’ gardens, both of which were keen gardeners. Their gardens were full of daffodils, roses, forget-me-nots, snowdrops and we often sat in the grass making daisy chains, and picking buttercups to hold under our chins to see if we liked butter. Over our heads bumble bees buzzed and the air was filled with the sweet smell of sweet peas and honeysuckle that grew over the wooden arch.
Foxglove Bloxs is a single weave wrap woven with pink and purple combed cotton wefts on an ecru combed cotton warp. We took inspiration for this wrap from the beautiful Foxglove flowers which have tall spikes that can bear up to eight purple/pink beautiful bell-shaped flowers. Each flower is delicately marked with mottled markings which are said in English folklore to be the handprints of fairies. The colour of this wrap shimmers between shades of pink and purple depending on how the light catches it. The wrap is soft in hand from the first use and is suitable from birth to toddlerhood. It has bandage-like wrapping qualities and comes ready to wear; ready to fill with love.
Forget-me-not Bloxs is a single weave wrap woven with two different shades of blue-combed cotton weft on an ecru combed cotton warp. Our inspirations for this colourway comes from the pretty five-petalled blue flower found in many borders of English Country Gardens. This pretty flower was often worn by ladies in medieval times as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love. The wrap is soft in hand from the first use and is suitable from birth to toddlerhood. It has bandage-like wrapping qualities and comes ready to wear; ready to fill with love.
Foxglove Bloxs and Forget-me-not Bloxs are 100% combed cotton. Our English Country Garden Collection wraps weigh approximately 270 g/m² (loom state).
